How do I prevent my textbook's pages from “falling down” when I put the book on a bookstand?

Could the "drooping" of the pages eventually damage the textbook?

I put it on a bookstand as I have neck pain, and it's much easier on my neck to read it straight up.

I think you choosed wrong bookstand for you. You need page keeping part in your bookstand. And some of them has changeable angle properties. Get a new one like this;

And also when you read in your hand, you can use this book holder. It's brilliant.
