How can I track my personal projects?

Question

Are there any freeware tools that I can use to track time for personal projects.
I would like to create and split the project in tasks and assign time against it.

I am looking for a tool that helps me

• entering my project tasks
• log time against
• once that task is scheduled for today I get an email or an alert.

and also needs to

• track the time spent on each of it
• just a report at the end of the month that shows my time left and spent

I'm using MacOS X and Windows.
