For any given relationship with children, there is a lot of household chores that needs to be managed or delegated in some way. One way that I prefer is to maintain a list of tasks that needs to be done on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

These tasks needs to be delegated to the members of the household in a way that is visible to all, but without using too much time to administer them. Also the tasks will be rotated daily, weekly or monthly.

Is there any known sites or ideas for doing this sort of thing in a smart way? I would like to avoid the "sheet on the refrigerator" solution.

Why computer? Are your kids actively told to check out a site for chores? this is why I like the refrigerator sheet, or white board, it's there in their face reminding them...Do your chores!! – MichaelF Oct 3 '11 at 12:27

Not sure I agree with a MOVE to personal productivity, but it fits. However, it sounds like he's trying to motivate kids. So I think it fits here. as far as the question goes, when there were 7 ppl living here, I went to Lowes and bought a big giant 4'x3' white board and screwed it to the wall in a high traffic area. Not very pretty, but it became INDISPENSABLE for keeping track of evth from chores to theater rehearsals to the kids friends ph#'s. A computer in the same role requires extra, intentional actions and that right there is where most people get tripped up. "oh i forgot to look." – monsto Oct 3 '11 at 18:28

Do the virtual version of a sheet on the refrigerator; make a spreadsheet in Excel, Open Office, or online with Google docs. Simple, shareable, free, and fast.

If you are going to use the computer, I suggest Trello (trello.com) It is free online service provided by FogCreek Software. I am currently using it for home maintenance and repairs.
