One of the basic ideas of GTD is to dump all the things that are on your mind outside your skull, because you can't trust your brain to reliably remember all the details.
Personally I find this argument to be quite compelling, but that is a sample of one. Is there any academic research that supports this idea? Did anyone measure the difference between chaos and pressing deadlines, and the proverbial "mind like water" state of smoothly running GTD system?
