I'm curious to know if there are people that actually have experience with the PhotoReading system?

PhotoReading is a reading system that claims that you can read at a speed of 25,000 words a minute though, normal reading speeds are between 250 and 300 words per minute. Speed readers read about, 1,000 to 1,500 words per minute, those numbers are well bellow the numbers that are claimed by PhotoReading. Though, it seems that Howard Stephen Berg has a speed reading record on 25,000 words a minute, however, I can't find a trust worthy source.

When searching the web for information on PhotoReading most are calling it a scam. Which, could be true off course, but as we al know criticizing is always easier than posting positive comments. On the other hand if this is the "holy grail" of reading, why wouldn't there be more positive sounds?

To be honest, even if your brain would get an accurate input of these amounts of text per second, would you really be able to understand the information? The website I visited on this topic claimed that the reader stores the information in his subconscious mind. I think this is just a clever (?) way to avoid proper evaluation of the method. "Your measuring method doesn't work with my new uber-method of $foobar!!1", thats usually a lame excuse. – 0x6d64 Jan 16 '12 at 18:18
@0x6d64 they also claim that you can activate and test the knowledge. So, you should be able to have some measurement. – Roel Jan 17 '12 at 8:37
I know there is a technique for some people with eidetic memories, where they can look at a page, then go back and read it whenever they want, word-for-word. That's not the same thing though. – silvermaple Jan 20 '12 at 17:30

There's an excellent section on Photoreading in Derren Brown's book "Tricks of the Mind" - the conclusion is that it's rubbish, but it's nicely evaluated.
