I use Listhings in my browser to make sticky notes and remind myself about stuff.

I am looking for an app/group of desktop apps for the same purposes.

What I want the app to be like:

  • Desktop app with online sync and online apps
  • Full-screen or an easy-to-access 2nd desktop on which I can post sticky notes
  • The ability to set reminders
  • Something similar to Listhings(above) but desktop-based, not within the browser, and with the ability to set reminders and timers on notes/todos.

Do you know of such app? Or something similar ?

What do you use in this area?

I think you want Evernote with some add-ons from the trunk.

Evernote lets you clip sections or full web pages, create notes, import files. You can do it from a browser add-on, a web application, a desktop program, or a handheld device (iOS, android,others) Anything you add from one client is very quickly available from all other clients.

The Evernote Trunk is a collection of add-on programs that use the base Evernote functionality, and add more on top. There is an add-on called Sticky Notes that might be very similar to what you're accustomed to, and there are others that will do alarms and reminders.

A basic Evernote account is free, paid accounts get additional features (like offline access to notes on a handheld). The programs in the Trunk vary as to whether they are free or paid licenses.

I've been using Evernote (without add-ons) for quite a while on multiple machines, including iPod Touch and Kindle Fire, and don't think I could be very productive without it any more.

I personally use Remember the Milk, which serves the requirements you have, expect that it does run in a browser but with google gears you can also run it offline within Chrome, if that is an option for you

  • Reminders though due dates
  • Browser Window can be moved to second monitor
  • Different lists with the tagging funtion and saving searches for tags

I am curruntly using HottNotes It is desktop based and with the ability to set reminders and timers on notes/todos. It is like a sticky notes for windows.

yes, but it looks kinda bad, i want something appealing to the eye also, I've started using ever note, combined with a multiple desktop app, I'll see if I can be more organized like this – Flavius Frantz Feb 26 '12 at 16:04
