Sometimes I sleep at 11, other times at 2 and 3 or 4. As a result my waking time also keeps varying everyday. Is there any decline in the productivity of a person with these kind of habits?

Sleep is basically the time the brain relaxes and your thoughts for the day are reviewed. It gets your brain ready for the next day. Some suggestions to follow are : Sleep at the same time everyday. Avoid exciting stuff like games or tv just before sleeping. It will keep you more awake. Avoid energy drinks late in the evening, it will only disturb your routine. |

I have no proof of this other than personal experience, but I find I am much more productive when I follow a regular sleep schedule. After following one for a few weeks, you will find your body telling you when to go to sleep and when to wake up. |

Sleeping at different times each night interrupts your circadian rhythm. Take jetlag for example. Granted, staying up till 2 AM instead of 11PM won't give you jetlag symptoms, but it may cause you to be sleepy throughout the day (personal experience). I think the biggest problem you will face with a random sleep schedule is fatigue on the days in which you stayed up late the night before; which can be a mood and motivation killer. |
