I have seen many movies and TV series where Americans use yellow legal pads for note taking.

  • Does this have some kind of advantage to white or recycled paper?
  • Is this a common thing in USA?

Sorry if this is a cliche, but I do not live in USA and I am very curious. :)

Here in Germany almost everybody uses white college blocks.
