I have often heard meditation is good and calms your mind,i have also enjoyed the benefits of it and but it just lasts several minutes,i know that meditation means present moment but i always keep deviating and thinking of future or the past, why cant i be here? why do i keep going out in that unknown future or past, whenever i am in the present moment i feel blissful but why cant remain in that state permanantly, can anyone give me some technique or some method which can make me alert and aware of my thinking process? thanks

To achieve this you just have to practice. It is normal that your thoughts are wandering around. But acting on and attaching to them is your decision. For me to be in the present moment is not just a feeling. If you try to depend only on feeling than you will get discouraged fast. To be present is to be aware of what is right now in front of you and do what is important. For this I think, the best habit is learning to ask important questions:
And for this you have to know what values are important to you, so that you can do good decisions. To break out of daydreaming and get into this state you can use what you learned for meditation. To be aware of your breathing. This happens always in the present moment and is I think the most simple and powerfull technique. |
