For example, in software development there is the oft-sited Fred Brooks number (5-10x) from the Mythical Man Month and the Robert Glass number (28x) from Facts and Fallacies of Software Engineering, two well-known books for Project Management in Software Engineering.

There should be similar studies for accounting, medicine, journalism, etc.

Augustine's Laws had a good table radical variations across professions. For example number of arrests by police officers. Some were knowledge workers, some weren't.
