Personal Productivity Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for people wanting to improve their personal productivity. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm looking for a plugin or desktop software that completes sentences I often write, e.g. "I'm looking forward to hearing from you". I'm using the latest Opera browser on Windows XP. Can anybody recommend one?

Your question is better asked in another SE site such as "Power user". –  Mohamad Fakih Aug 4 '13 at 14:31

You are looking for text macros. Look at AutoHotkey as Mohamad's answer suggests. –  Gaʀʀʏ Aug 5 '13 at 21:47

I recommend Phraseexpander, I use it daily, in my opinion it is No.#1, you need to define your phrase and sentences first; unlike AutoHothey it doesn't need programming knowledge. –  Arun Aug 7 '13 at 8:34

If you're an advanced user (and don't mind writing/eding a script), try AutoHotKey. Very flexible, free, portable. What you need is covered through the Hotstrings feature.

It does much more than text expansion. For example, you can configure it to type the date by typing a shorthand you choose (e.g. "Date: .d ", as soon as you type the last space, ".d" is replaced by today's date). You can carry the resulting executable whenever you go. No installation or admin privileges required
