Is there any free online calendar to use for a Team for 8-10 people?

To know who is on leave and when and to know his information like email, phone number etc.

and to who is working on which project.

For project scheduling, those things are called Gantt charts. An example paid site is TeamGantt, perhaps you can easily find a free one on Google. – Tom Wijsman Aug 3 '11 at 14:09

Something like sharing a Google Calendar should do the job for keeping track of absence and events.

Might be an overkill, but perhaps Asana ( ) might be useful for your purposes, especially regarding the "and to who is working on which project." bit. Never had the chance to use it myself, but it looks like a very powerful (and free) app for project coordination and it can integrate the Google Calendar.
