I'm Director of Social Networking over at HASTAC.org (we administer the Macarthur Foundation's Digital Media & Learning Competition). And I'm a Phd student at UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Info & Library Science.

Does it help to have dedicated computer workstations for dedicated types of work? My circumstances might be unusual...my work and research are enmeshed with social media, and bad work habits are outperforming good 5-to-1 at any given moment. Dual browsers don't quite cut it. I've heard people talk about dedicating computers to specific tasks, but I am hoping to find something more than anecdotal to justify the expense. I know there has been research on multiple monitors/size of monitors, etc. |
