comment How can I improve reading speed and comprehension?
I am sorry to be instantly negative but speed-reading has been utterly debunked, along with the notion that vocalisation can be broken is some way. All readers sub-vocalise, no credible study anywhere in the world supports speed-reading as an activity which yields the benefits claimed. Not even remotely.

I am not against the smartphone. I am against your insinuation that no one can be productive without one. You also deftly side-step all the problems with reliance on technology for productivity.

Oh, and if you ever brought out a smartphone in my meetings I would kick you out and bar you until you learned common courtesy. Like it or not, a notebook is still considered the most effective way to take notes, link concepts and be attentive in meetings. You are welcome to favour a smartphone. You are not welcome to claim anyone else not following your method is unproductive. I would wager most people in 1750 led considerably more productive lives than you juggling numerous tasks and knowledge silos in order to simply live let alone thrive. Anyone with farming experience can attest.

Have you ever tried to synch with the cloud in a non-3G area? Have you ever tried to enter a task in a smartphone that is out of power? You are picking strawman arguments and embarrassing yourself. Your statement was that a person using pen and paper cannot be productive. That is patently false. Just because you favour a smartphone (which costs $500+ or comes free with a two year contract plus electricity costs plus service subscriptions). My notebook costs $3 and a pencil costs a buck. With it I managed to launch two startups and work as a Project Manager for a FTSE 250.

You cannot be productive with a paper that needs to repeat itself everyday? What a marvellously absurd statement. Is your hypothesis that no productive people existed before the advent of the smartphone? Benjamin Franklin seemed a fairly productive person with just a paper, quill and candlelight..
