How would you tell others when you are available? Depending on the environment it might not be acceptble to put up a sign with your "opening hours".

comment How to Get Myself Started on Tasks Despite Depression and OCD?
If you took a break in your pomodoro: you are not supposed to do this but work without any distraction (no email, no browsing social media, ...). You can read about GTD by looking on this SE site (there will be a tag named GTD). But for the start you can stick with the tips I gave you. Don't waste any time creating a "perfect" method, but keep it simple and start completing task from your list!

Pomodoros are a way to trick you into starting with a bigger task that seems to be too big to accomplish. People that don't think that they can work on a topic without distraction will be more likely to work for half an hour and repeat this four times (which is essentially the same thing). The other thing is that you get a defined, short break (this way its easier to continue working). Regarding todo lists: one of the things I stole from "getting things done" (GTD) is to have one list of tasks so that no tasks gets lost. Give it a try. I wish you the best!

@AlexLeonov: Unfortunately handwriting recognition of scanned text seems not to be ready yet. If anyone could point to any tool (does not even have to be free of charge or free software) I would be very happy.

Like I said: look for similar minded people to spend your time. About work: I think that being interested in a lot of different things myself helps be be a better engineer, because I naturally talk to colleagues about their work and later can use that knowledge to 1. get the "bigger picture" and 2. transfer some concepts or solutions from other areas to my work.

I really don't get what your question here is. If learning new things is something you enjoy, it does not have to have another purpose IMO. Maybe your question is "how can I apply my broad interests in an open / creative environment?". Then think about joining a hacker/maker space or programming project. If you want to program and solve math puzzles: take a look at projecteuler.net
