Tips for bi-tasking? Well I've been doing this for a while now, one substantial task and one less substantial, and I found that my chances of getting distracted greatly increase when adding additional tasks. I think what makes this work for me is that the extra task is a reward for doing the substantial task... |

Why is my productivity the lowest in afternoon? +1 for fingering the diet... blood sugar fluctuations are bad for concentration. Avoid sugars but do eat starches with fat and/or vinegar to slow down their digestion. |

How to stop worrying on petty issues? Anxiety can be diet-related. See here for a testimonials of people that improved anxiety through diet: perfecthealthdiet.com/reader-results/#Mental%20health. |

Do simple diets help our mental productivity? One more thing to try: Skip breakfast by having only e.g. coffee with cream. (no carbs or protein). Then you're extending your night fast until lunch which can be very beneficial due to autophagy and mild ketosis (ketones are a cleaner source of fuel for your brain). See if you function well during that time. If not you may have issues to address. |

Do simple diets help our mental productivity? low fat can lead to lower satiety and less nutrients (since many nutrients are fat-soluble). If you're feeling fine without hunger there's no issue. Hunger means your body is missing nutrients. Eat lots of very nutritious foods so you need less calories. Take a look at the PHDiet I linked at the bottom, it's really amazing. |

Do simple diets help our mental productivity? I agree with this except the whole grains, which are actually bad for you. Google "Paleo Diet". |

Tips for bi-tasking? Yes, I use a Pomodoro timer but I would still get distracted. Bi-tasking seems to help so far... |

Tips for bi-tasking? Good tips, thanks. For me the biggest problem with singletasking is that I distract myself. I actually found that since telling myself 2 is ok, I get less distracted :) |

Tips for bi-tasking? I like how it's three easy to remember words, so it's easier to remember as something to do. I do this already by letting my Pomodoro timer change my IM message to "available in x minutes". |

Situational procrastination: how to be productive before project starts? I love the prototype idea. I've come to the realization that rewriting code from scratch once you made a prototype is often a great idea. |

fasting and low-calory diet good for the brain? @Penguin_Knight well yeah, I guess that the eventual outcome of fasting is always a coma :-) I like your answer but I'm still partial to the effects of intermittent fasting, which is easier to do than caloric restriction and also has plausible health benefits like supporting immune function through autophagy. |

fasting and low-calory diet good for the brain? @Penguin_Knight Your link 7 is nice but I didn't find anything in there that points to ketoacidosis being reached by ketogenic dieting? Full text here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1528-1167.2007.00914.x/… . I still believe ketoacidosis is not something to worry about when fasting. I also believe that very long fasts (>48hrs) are not a good idea. |

fasting and low-calory diet good for the brain? @Penguin_Knight also, school children are not fully formed adults (especially regarding the brain and its relative energy consumption) and therefore you can't really extrapolate anything about fasting for adults. Other than that, nice answer. |

fasting and low-calory diet good for the brain? @Penguin_Knight while you are correct that too much ketones can cause loss of conciousness (through ketoacidosis), there is no way you can reach ketoacidosis through fasting. It is the end result of diabetes and thus of severe metabolic derangement. Ketones are fine, Inuit and Masai use them all the time. |

How can I automatically clear my inbox? Neat idea to remove time-sensitive labels. However, why not move those mails out of your inbox when they arrive into a separate folder and then process that folder as often as needed? You can simply select all and delete as you see fit. |
