Oh. Could you recommend some nice reading material? I loved Anki at first, but now the pace is too slow. It develops very slow--it's practically unsupported.

@RoryAlsop On-topic: "fighting procrastination by getting energetic and motivated". Proven effective, too.

Recently, I've been trying to disconnect from the material world more and more. The less I am attached to things--fussing around with things--, the more I am able to enter into the creative space in my mind and develop richer memories. It's been very useful. I picked the concept up from old Confucian readings and themes in their art. I can create a broader mental space, and I can remember things more clearly.

@AdamGent It needs better documentation.

You should look into some file managers like Xyplorer and Xplorer Lite 2. I think that the one feature missing is a save state feature, but I haven't used them. Version management would need to be handled by a different program.

@Gabber Git comes to mind, also. I use bitbucket. It might help. It seems like you have something very specific in mind, though. Your only option may be to build it.

comment How can I communicate with others to help them consider alternative viewpoints?
I don't have a research pallet specifically for that, but I've been volunteering as a hand searcher for four years. There's a lot out there to discredit individual points. If you would like to discuss specific things, we should go to chat. I think Covey makes a good point. I also recently asked about why people become frustrated when they are forced to question their beliefs. Someone told me it was because it causes them to challenge the sources of the beliefs. He'd taken that info from A Course in Miracles. Anyway, I agree with some of the points in How to Win Friends.... :)

Thanks. I'm kind of hard up against the author of How to Win Friends and Influence People because I don't think he's ever written a book, or even a passage, based on solid research, or anything other than his own opinion.... It's easy to discredit many of the points, and actually show that they will make situations worse, rather than better, on multiple levels. It's nice to have the other resources, to look into, and I appreciate the clean formatting, though. So, thank you very much for your response.

While subjective, I feel that it is an important assertion that peoples productivity improves when they find remorse. People without remorse are hopelessly trapped at the lowest levels of society. There have been studies showing sharp increases in anti-social behavior as peoples' position in society go down. They are correlative, and there are many outliers. I am familiar with some additional research among prison populations and clinical populations but none among other populations. I do not have a research pallet, though; so, the methods cannot be examined thoroughly. I'll search for'm

Interesting response. I often try just revealing a prototype or a brief overview of my ideas and then only continue when I feel someone is willing to have a discourse with me in its regard. I often see people fighting, working as an anger management counselor, and I notice that after the arguments, among unsuccessful members, nobodies opinion is even slightly changed by discourse. So, I want to find a way to guide people to at least consider and try to understand alternative perspectives or new branches.

comment How to quickly restore concentration?
Oh, thanks. I've got some other stuff that I could add: create a comfort zone. If I really want to focus, I put on The Best of The Grateful Dead and have a cup of juice by me. You might also want to keep a tool kit near by. And no need to lose focus when you have everything you need in your zone. Practice the task (for example, you can practice sleeping or reading to increase frequency and duration of the same; likewise, practice being distracted increases distraction time, so get yourself a nice set up). Also, I think that attitude control helps. Thanks, guys. The badge rocks.

JB King, I started to write the kanji backwards, and that helped a lot. I think I needed to diffuse my physical memory and my visual memory so that I could target them individually. Actually, I had some spect scans done on my brain and discovered that the physical area isn't as active as it probably should be, and the visual a bit hyperactive. Everyone's brain activity is a little different, they say. So, maybe the story would be different for others. Some of the more complicated kanji just seem impossible to remember, especially because they look very different in different fonts.

comment How can I succeed in remembering people's names?
Sometimes with names I invert phonetic mnemonics. Luis is number 5ui0 and Ben is number 9e2. I think it works for me because A) it's a challenge, B) I'm interested in mnemonics, and C) I really want to get the numbers right to hone my skills. It think it's also fun to add, subtract, and multiply friends. Isn't that nerdy?

comment Being productive without energy
See if there's an antecedent to the slump. There could be some habit, like the way you sit down in a certain chair--slouching back rather than sitting with a slight forward lean. Perhaps there is a steady cluster of low-energy activities leading into that part of the day and changing the dynamics will help.

comment How can I bring productivity techniques that work for me to a new employer?
Rory, they probably know but would suffer a strike to their pride if they'd admit it. That seems to be a theme in humanity. I was angry until I realized people knew themselves. Professionals need to be self aware to get into positions of authority. Unfortunately, people in those positions also have a tendency to cling obsessively to respect. When I am trying to tell someone whose station is above mine something that might injure his or her pride, I put them into a role that won't be threatening to the same but results in the desired understanding. They speak the statements into awareness.

Wow, man. That's amazing. I wish I could give you more than a thumbs up. I'm going to go read your other posts and spam the ones I like with +1's. Thanks, homie. I have a lot of faith in your method, and it seems to make a lot of sense. I'm exited about testing it out on animals, too.

comment Are there any applications to create workflows for todos?
@misha, I know some companies that use custom software to create such content, here in Japan. It would be really nice to have something open-source. I have a really good design for a software like that, but I stopped development about a year ago because I had very little free time and needed to spend it elsewhere. :) I still have some interesting stuff in my notebooks, though.
