When someone asks "How do I do XYZ?", don't answer "You shouldn't." That's annoying and pretentious.

If you must, then answer "You can do XYZ this way. But in my opinion, you shouldn't, because of ABC."

If you don't think someone should do XYZ and you don't know how to do XYZ, then simply don't answer the question. Don't insist on providing an "answer" that doesn't answer anything.

Save your "You shouldn't" answers for when someone asks "Is it a good idea to do XYZ?"
