My handwriting is not especially tidy or clear (I should have been a physician) and Evernote manages to figure out my photographed white board scribbles pretty well. It may help that I tend to use the Palm Graffiti character set when writing on the white board, although not always.

This is pretty much the answer I'd have written. I've followed the same path of trying a wiki, and discovering that Evernote is better for keeping reference information and finding it later when I want it.

I'm no expert on IFTTT, but I'd expect the timestamp in email headers to be accessible. And there's a Google Drive channel available which apparently can append to a spreadsheet. Someone that is more facile with IFTTT than I am could probably find a way to do it.
