I spent my Junior year of university in Yamaguchi, Japan, and am currently studying for N1 to get into a post-grad program to become an interpreter. My understanding of Japanese has swung from textbook to practical and back to textbook, but I'm always trying to improve it!

Why am I productive but not motivated? I have sort of a similar problem. I have a lot of long-term motivation. I am studying for a big test, and I'm really good at making study materials and preparing to study, but I have to force myself to sit down and actually study...it's not that I don't like the material, I just get distracted, etc... |

How to avoid night-productivity when it's a must to wake up earlier? I do something of the same thing, when I know I'm tired but my mind won't stop buzzing. I say "I'll count backwards from 100 and when I get to 1, I can get up and do something else", and I wake up the next morning barely remembering the 70's... |

Is it beneficial or detrimental to supplement spaced repetition programs with other flashcards? Thank you! I will be much more judicious in my use of supplemental flashcards...I still think it will be useful to use other sources for reasons other than pure memorization (different format, different definitions, different benchmarks, etc) but now I know what I'm getting into!! Thanks again :D |
