comment How do I get faster at typing when you already have a decent speed?
Finding a keyboard that is the right fit for you makes a huge difference. One that is too cramped forces you to slow down to avoid poor aim, one that is too widely spaced forces you to move your whole hand to type a far away key. Also, I've found that a buckling-spring keyboard allows me to type faster than a silicone bubble one, though I'm not really sure why it's faster.

comment How do I stay on top of e-mails while remaining focused on real work? Are there tools for this?
I'm aware of the contents of the wikipedia entry. However, it's likely that either the OP or some future searcher is not. We need to offer something of more value than a list of links, or the user does no better coming here than he does using a search engine.

comment How can I improve my handwriting?
The fountain pen isn't just a new toy, it requires less pressure to write with which reduces hand strain and makes writing neatly easier to do. I second the recommendation for Getty-Dubay cursive italic -- this answer contains more detail about it.

"don't write if you have bad handwriting" is not an answer to "how can I improve my handwriting?"

Welcome to Personal Productivity! Whilst this may theoretically answer the question, it would be preferable to include the essential parts of the answer here, and provide the link for reference.

-1 Suggesting a tool with no details as to how or why it is the right approach is not a helpful answer. There are many lists of productivity strategies on the web -- part of why Stack Exchange is different is that we aren't about making lists, we're about sharing our expertise. Please flesh out your answer.

comment Is there an automatic time tracking application?
This question currently does not fit the Stack Exchange format, but it can be saved with some editing. To avoid being a "big list" question, please edit your question to focus not on simply finding a tool (there are plenty of sites that review software tools), but on the specific expertise you want from our community. Phrase your question to elicit detailed, explanatory answers rather than a list of programs. I'll happily re-open after it's been edited to fit our format. See Good Subjective, Bad Subjective for more info.

When asked for a clarification to your question, please edit that clarification into the question itself, rather than adding it as a comment. This prevents answerers from having to wade through a sea of comments to fully understand the question.

@Christian That doesn't make it a good candidate for community wiki -- CW is for posts that will (hopefully) remain community maintained for the long hall, not for posts that aren't-really-on-topic-but-we-like-them (such as polls). That said, I think this question could become legitimately on-topic with proper editing.

comment Coffee: good or bad for work?
Closed as "not constructive" because it seeks research on value judgments rather than specific conclusions or observable phenomena. The question could, of course, be re-opened if you rewrote it to better fit the Q&A format. To find the "right" approach to getting the info you need through our format, try to avoid generalities and get to the heart of the matter. Are you interested in documented effects on wakefulness, attentiveness, or some other measurable quality? What action do you want to take based on the info you get?

comment Tickler file for email
Welcome to Productivity.SE. One-liners aren't really helpful in our format. If you think something is worth using, please write about it, don't just paste links at people. The idea here is to provide answers, not just the same list a search engine would provide.

@Tom Sadly, fountain pen friendliness is not a trait that manufacturers normally advertise.

comment What are alternatives to XMarks for bookmark synchonization?
"Is there something better than XMarks" will only yield a big list of XMarks competitors. If the question provided specific goals/differences so answerers could nail down a "best" alternative to offer you, it wouldn't be a "big list" question, and we'd only be left with the question of whether these software recommendation questions are on-topic (which to my knowledge hasn't been fully hashed out one way or the other yet).

comment How do you get the most out of services like Springpad?
As written, your question is too vague to be answerable. If you added information about the service (for those familiar with similar ones but not that one), about the specific things you want to improve or accomplish by adding this to your workflow, and about your constraints, it might have enough context to stick around.

@brian: Community Wiki is not intended to be a catch-all for bad questions. Either it's a good question or it's not.

This is far too vague to be answerable. Please ask concretely answerable questions. How to Ask and How To Ask In Private Beta might be helpful to you.

comment What tools/techniques are useful in managing notes in different physical/digital locations?
Closing as not appropriate to the format -- there's no right answer to be found here. This is a "let's discuss..." question (off topic) not a "can someone explain..." question (on topic). Please see the FAQ if you need more info.
