comment Does military background enhance productivity?

comment Switching environments for work and play
Have you considered altering the room environment as well? Maybe you turn on a desk lamp while working, close the door, pull the shades, play a particular type of music.

comment Is it normal that I lose focus and concentration when programming?
Do you consider losing 5 seconds of concentration every 5-10 minutes a problem? Seems better than average.

Losing a week because of a 10 minute break seems unlikely. There is research on interuptions and they can cost around 30 minutes, but never more than an hour.

comment Touch Typing for Programmers
@Adam - You can get better at typing brackets with every day coding, but taking time specific to touch typing code that could be spent on other development techniques that require less code in the long-run.

@JuhaUntinen - There's a lot of room between "rockstar" and average which is probably where most of the employed programmers are.

comment My Problem with learning programming
Why do you want to "master" programming? What else have you ever mastered and why is programming any different?
